Child Protection Policy

The BAB, which is the governing body for Aikido in the UK, has drawn up a Child Protection Policy. The Fudoshin Association has adopted this policy. Under this policy, a 'child' for these purposes is defined as anyone under eighteen years old.

Whilst everyone needs to be aware of the issues involved, coaches who take classes for under-18s in particular need to familiarise themselves with the BAB Policy which is available on the BAB Safeguarding page.

If you do instruct under-18s, you need to bear in mind the following:

You will need to apply for a DBS check. This needs to be done with a Child Protection Officer. The process cannot be done by post. See the government's Disclosure and Barring Service pages.

Contact information for your Club Child Protection or Child Welfare Officer should be posted on club notice boards or websites.
